What we do

Your Sheriff's Office works hard to stretch the value of taxpayer dollars by deploying personnel and equipment for the greatest benefit of our county's residents.  However, many innovative solutions or projects that can help improve neighborhoods and strengthen the community need your funding help to keep them going.

The mission of the Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) Foundation is to raise and contribute funds for programs and/or services that will improve public safety throughout Washington County, which may not be funded through the regular Sheriff's Office Budget. These may include educational programs, public awareness of operations and crime prevention, provide assistance with programs that the WCSO may offer for youths, elderly and the general public, and programs or equipment needed to assist WCSO in the administration of its duties, including special programs that receive dedicated donations for those special programs.

• The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Foundation was established in 1995 as a non-profit corporation.
• The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Foundation Board is representative of the area served and includes members from county neighborhoods, businesses and community participation organizations. All board members live or work in Washington County.
• Members of the foundation are citizen volunteers and local business leaders who donate their time and provide leadership and experience to raise or solicit funds for the programs in need.
• The Sheriff’s Office Foundation is the ONLY organization authorized to raise funds on behalf of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office Foundation offers an ideal route for citizens to directly participate in public safety projects approved by the Sheriff's Office, but not covered by county funds. Your contributions are an important means to maintain the safe community we now enjoy. Funds donated help support the many programs that improve neighborhoods and reduce crime.
